  16. Under ideal conditions that may be so.  However my own experiences
  17. with high-speed modems over the years and telephone companies' responses 
  18. to problems on voice lines used for data is that if if their techs
  19. say the line meets specifications and your modem can't deal with it, 
  20. you're SOL.
